So yesterday, Nintendo surprised everybody with a special “one last thing” surprise during their Nintendo Direct and what we got was a megaton announcement as Super Smash Bros. will be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch, but most importantly, it will be arriving this year. Whether that ends up being a few months down the line or on the last calendar day, we don’t care as Super Smash Bros. is coming on the Nintendo Switch in 2018! We’ve been ready for Nintendo’s famed fighting franchise to make its way on its hybrid console and now that we know it’s here, it is time to make a few predictions as to whom will be making the cut for Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo Switch.

Jacob S. – Geralt of Rivia – The Witcher Franchise

Strange pick? Probably. Impossible? Honestly, I don’t know how to answer that question anymore. The last installments of Smash Bros. on both 3DS and Wii U featured an abundant of fan favorite third-party roster characters from the likes of Ryu of the Street Fighter franchise, Cloud from Final Fantasy and even the bodacious Bayonetta made her way to Nintendo’s fighting title. On top of this, CD Projekt Red even stated that Geralt will be making his way into another game outside of The Witcher franchise and Super Smash Bros. would be a fantastic pick… and maybe a way for The Witcher trilogy to make its way onto the Nintendo Switch? –  A man can only dream.

Alex S. – Ridley – Metroid Franchise

Umm… I’m pretty sure I already made a list of characters I want to see in Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch but I suppose I have one more left in me. Just like in that list I’m sticking to the rule that the character I choose needs to be only be technically possible on powerful hardware (why the Ice Climbers were omitted from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS) and so they need to have a sort of transformation or be a tag team choice. So my choice? Well this time I’m going with a character that is very well known for being excluded from Smash for technical reasons. The one and only – Ridley. Make it happen Sakurai.

And that’s it – I’m not predicting any more Smash Bros. characters… until the next game.

Jacob S. – King K Rool – Donkey Kong Country Franchise

I’ve been asking for King K Rool in Smash since the very beginning. This baddy has waited long enough to make his triumphant return and having him fight alongside other Nintendo villains and against the likes of Mario, Link and most importantly Donkey Kong would make the perfect addition to the Smash roster. Now, King K Rool has been sitting in the back of the spotlight in recent years and hasn’t been featured in a true Donkey Kong title since Donkey Kong Country 64, but that shouldn’t take away the fact that this bad croc deserves to be part of the future of Super Smash Bros.

That does it for our list, but there are more than a handful of gaming icons that can make the cut and that is why we want to hear from you as to which character do you wish to see in the upcoming Smash title. Is it a returning favorite, a classic 3rd party icon, or even an off the wall selection? Let us know who you want to see in Smash Bros. and keep coming back for more news, updates, and discussions on Super Smash Bros. and all other things gaming right here at Link-Cable.
