Its summertime, and that means it’s the perfect time to hit the beach or pool and escape the heat for a while, and while real people enjoy heading down to the local watering hole, did you know video game characters enjoy a nice dip too? Its true! So in honor of summer we decided to take a look (but not for too long) at the top 10 best swimsuits in gaming. Now it would be way too easy to only include a whole bunch of pictures of ladies in bikinis on this list, so we decided to let everyone in on the fun and split this list equally between men and women. So without further ado, here are the best swimsuits in video gaming!

10 – Aya (Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad)

Sexy and deadly, Aya from the Onechanbara (ya I don’t know how to pronounce it either) series slices through the hordes of undead with precision, determination and style thanks her cute two-piece bikini. Now I don’t know why a squad of samurai need to be in bikinis to fight monsters but hey – they’re clearly the experts here so I’ll let them do their thing.

9 – Zombies (Dead Island)

Who ever said the beach was reserved for the living? After a viral outbreak at a resort its only natural that some of the (now) undead will still be wearing their beach-wear which somehow, makes the whole situation you find yourself in during Dead Island even more gut wrenching since you know that just a short while ago these ladies were enjoying a nice, cool drink under the sun.

8 – Samus (Metroid)

What better way to reward yourself after defeating an army of murderous Space Pirates and their giant, planet controlling computer than to kick off that dusty old power-armor and head for a dip in one of Zebes’ (non-acidic) lakes?

7 – Jude (Tales of Xillia)

The first male to make our list, Jude from Tales of Xillia (the one on the right) continue’s the series’ tradition if including unlockable swimwear for the main cast. Of course that meant we had a lot of characters to choose from but in the end we settled on Jude because he not only chose a stylish set of trunks but accessorized with snorkel gear, and really who doesn’t love exploring the ocean floor?

6 – Chrom (Fire Emblem: Awakening)

No, you’re not looking at a fan’s scribblings from DeviantArt but official Nintendo artwork from Fire Emblem: Awakening‘s Summer Scramble DLC.  Like Tales of Xillia, we had a lot of character to choose from for this entry but just couldn’t get over how both stoic and (hilariously) uncomfortable Chrom looks in his exalt-branded swim trunks.

5 – Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles)

I’m really feeling it! While Xenoblade Chronicles (and Chronicles X) allow you to deck pretty much your whole party (even Rikki) in swim gear (that somehow has amazing stats) its clear that Shulk wore it best. How else could you explain that his swimtrunk set made it into Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U as an alt-costume?

4 – Rikku (Final Fantasy X-2)

Ok, I’m not going to lie, I’m not exactly sure this exactly qualifies as a swimsuit since it has way too many accessories that wouldn’t really work in the water. But then if you were to ignore these its clear that Rikku is just rocking a bikini, and anyone who can save the world from impending evil all while wearing a two-piece is more than deserving of a spot on this list.

3 – Swimmer (Pokémon X/Y Version)

Swimmers in the Pokémon universe come in many shapes and sizes but we have to give the nod to the male swimmer from Pokémon (X/Y Version) as their combination of dark blue trunks and cap help make sure they can keep swimming in circles forever waiting for someone to surf on by.

2 – Heihachi Mishima (Tekken)

Wow, for an old guy, Heihachi sure does look good in his traditional Japanese swimming set. But being fashionable is only part of the equation as Heihachi can still put a beat down on any fool that dares insult his swimgear.

1 – Bravo Bikini (Bravely Default)

The only costume on this list to not only have a real name, but also be an integral part of Bravely Default‘s story, the Bravo Bikini is described as so overwhelmingly sexy that none can refuse its wearers requests. The best part? The Bravo Bikini changes to suite whoever is wearing it, so whether its Edea, Ringabel, Tiz or even poor Agnes donning the outfit its powers will not be lost.
